“Providing education and compassionate care to our community and their pets”
The staff of Erlanger Veterinary Hospital believe in collaborative communication with pet families to achieve exceptional veterinary care. Our team’s values of Positivity, Empathy, Trust, and Service are in place because we are here for the P.E.T.S.
Why AAHA Accreditation?
The American Animal Hospital Association was created in 1933 to set a standard for excellence in veterinary medicine. Every 3 years, we voluntarily participate in their rigorous onsite evaluation to ensure adherence to over 900 standards of veterinary care. This produces a confident and dedicated team with the education to provide the latest innovative veterinary care with the best technology and medications available.
Prevention is Key!
Preventative Care Plans, or Wellness Plans, are a great way to provide the routine care your dog or cat needs each year to stay healthy and happy. Our plans give you the ability to spread the payment of their annual care out over 12 months instead of all at once.
In addition to their routine care, these plans include Unlimited Physical Exams and Nail Trims at no additional cost.
We understand that pets are a luxury, but that doesn’t mean their care shouldn’t be affordable. Click below to learn more about our plans and sign your pets up today!

Why did you become a veterinarian?
“I became a veterinarian because it was the perfect opportunity to learn how to use science to positively influence the lives of both animals and humans.”
What is your goal with every patient visit?
“Every patient is a member of the family. As such, my goal is to provide them with the best possible care to promote health, well being and improve their daily lives.”
Who makes up your family?
“My family includes my husband, Scott, two daughters, Zoey and Tatum, along with a very rambunctious boxer and two mischievous cats.”
Dr. Tony Schumann
Veterinarian
Dr. Tony Schumann graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary medicine in 1994 with high honors. He was born and raised in Northern Kentucky where he now resides. After graduating, he went straight to work at Erlanger Veterinary Hospital, since he was a technician there prior to veterinary school. He has special interest in orthopedic surgery (ex. TTA, Tightrope), ultrasonography, and internal medicine. Dr. Schumann completed the Kyon TTA course in 2007 and has had excellent results with the procedure, having performed several hundred surgical repairs for ACL tears. Most of his limited free time is spent in the great outdoors training Labrador Retrievers for field trials.
Dr. Lee Nancarrow
Veterinarian
Dr. Lee Nancarrow was born in New York City, raised in Connecticut until she was 9, then moved to Cincinnati. She left Cincinnati to pursue her college education but found her way back in 2000. She shares her life with her husband, David, and their dog Gemma, a Tibetan Terrier and King Charles Spaniel mix. They plan to add another dog to their family soon. Outside of work, Lee enjoys reading, cooking, hiking, skiing, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Nancarrow attended Kenyon College, earning a BA in Biology, and went on to Ohio State University to obtain her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. Her passion for animals and her fascination with biology led her to the veterinary field. Prior to returning to Cincinnati, she worked alongside Dr. Vecchione in Chicago, which eventually led her to her current role at Erlanger Veterinary Hospital.
In addition to her veterinary training, Dr. Nancarrow has completed two 100-hour courses in nutrition, one from the Academy of Natural Health Sciences and the other at the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapeutics. She is dedicated to exploring innovative solutions in veterinary medicine, always striving to improve care for her patients. She thrives on partnering with clients to find the best possible outcomes for their pets. Known for her attention to detail, she is also passionate about learning and research, continuously seeking ways to expand her knowledge and expertise.
Dr. Andy Pfaehler
Veterinarian
Dr. Pfaehler was born and raised in Kentucky and graduated from Covington Latin High School. At NKU he earned a BA in Philosophy and a BS in Biological Sciences before discovering his passion for veterinary medicine. While in college, he had the opportunity to shadow a veterinarian, which sparked his love for the field. He went on to attend Auburn University for veterinary school.
After graduating, Dr. Pfaehler worked in emergency medicine, where Dr. Hastings recognized his talent and interest in treating exotic animals, leading him to join Erlanger Vet Hospital. He is dedicated to helping the people of our community by treating their family members who can’t speak for themselves, and he is always eager to care for any creature, big or small.
Outside of work, Dr. Pfaehler enjoys bike riding and playing video games. He lives with his wife and two children, along with two dogs, Charlette and Winifred, a cat named Lincoln, and a leopard gecko named Peanut Butter.
Dr. Marisa Clark
Veterinarian
Dr. Marisa Clark was born in Massachusetts and raised in sunny Florida before eventually moving to Kentucky. She lives with her husband, their son Jesse, and their beloved pets—a dog named Luna and three cats: Binx, Bamboo, and Eliza.
Her passion for animals began early, growing up with numerous pets and spending much of her time volunteering at animal shelters and wildlife rehabilitation centers. Dr. Clark earned her undergraduate degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from Northern Kentucky University. She then pursued her dream of becoming a veterinarian by earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida.
After her husband, a Kentucky native, convinced her to move back to his home state, Dr. Clark found a perfect match with Erlanger Veterinary Hospital. She was drawn to the hospital’s shared commitment to compassionate, high-quality care. Her goal is to provide the best possible treatment for her patients while nurturing strong relationships with her clients and their pets.
Dr. Clark has a special interest in dermatology and enjoys helping patients manage allergies. She is dedicated to staying current with the latest research and veterinary protocols, collaborating with specialists when needed to ensure her patients receive exceptional care.
When she’s not working, Dr. Clark loves spending time outdoors with her family, especially hiking and exploring nature.
